WeTab tablet running with MeeGo at IFA

WeTab (or WePad) has turned up at IFA, and with something of a surprise no less -- it's running a customized version of MeeGo. Those customizations look to keep things mostly in line with the interface we saw during the device's WePad days, but it does seem to be a bit more responsive, and is seemingly in a nearly final state. Of course, it's not quite final enough to avoid another delay -- it's now apparently set to roll out in "late September." Head on past the break to check it out in action.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Listed for $1,030 on German Amazon

A Samsung product exec told the WSJ that the Galaxy Tab would retail for between $200 - $300 in the US, but over on Amazon Germany, a 799 Euro price-tag has been affixed to the tablet.

That's a hefty figure, I'm sure you'll agree, but I'm sure one popular method of purchasing the Galaxy Tab would be via carrier subsidizing—though do you really need another monthly contract in your lives? [Amazon via OLED.at]

Viewsonic details dual-boot Android, Windows-based tablet

ViewSonic at IFA today filled in many of the details surrounding its dual-booting ViewPad tablet. Now dubbed the ViewPad 100, the 10-inch slate runs on a 1.66GHz Atom and uses either Windows 7 or the now old Android 1.6; either side appears to use a reference design but supports multi-touch. It uses just a 16GB solid-state drive, but an SDHC card slot provides most of the bulk storage.

Many of the other details are similar to those of a current netbook. The ViewPad outputs at a native 1024x600 display and holds 1GB of DDR3 memory. On top of Android-friendly features like Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi, it has more traditional netbook expansion that brings two USB ports, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and a VGA video output.

The ViewPad comes to the UK for £549 ($848) and will ship there as well as Europe in October. A US launch wasn't detailed, although most ViewSonic devices make their way to North America.
